Actions AND Words

As we begin the new year, it is a good idea to remember who we are, where we stand, and what we believe.  We can do lots of good things - great things, even, but unless we remember that we serve a living God, our actions will be confusing at best, misleading at worst.  I Timothy 3:16 is a statement of what we believe - a creed. We'll profess this creed on January 1, and take it with us into 2017.  Worship with us, New Year's Day at 10 a.m.

The best of times, the worst of times

What was 2016 like for you, was it the best of times or the worst of times?  As we look back on the past year, we also look forward.  Endings and beginnings. At the end of the bible we find an epilogue (Revelation 22: 12-21).  That epilogue shows us what happens in the story after the final chapter of the bible has been written.  Those who have been washed by Jesus "live happily ever after." Come out for our church service at 7pm on Dec 31 as part of your New Year's Eve activities.

Christmas Day

On Christmas Day we celebrate the birth of Jesus.  What if Jesus had never been born?  How different would things look?  In the Christmas special, It's a Wonderful Life, George Bailey wishes that he had never existed.  Sometimes we need to see the bigger picture to understand that all of us need a Savior.  Jesus is that Savior.  Join us for a beautiful morning, 10 am, Christmas Day.

Giving Everything

There's a story in bible about a woman who made a gift of two very small coins.  Watching her, Jesus says that she gave "everything." (Mark 12:44).  Her sacrificial gift points us to the gift Jesus would give to us - in coming to earth he gave everything for us.  Our gratitude arises from this discovery.  The Little Drummer Boy's gift reminds us that we worship a King who deserves, well, everything. Sunday, Dec 11, 8:30 a.m. at WilsonHub and 10 a.m. at the church.

How the Grinch tried to steal Christmas

He couldn't do it, of course.  The Grinch could never steal Christmas. That's because nothing and no one could thwart God's plan to save his people.  The Grinch's heart eventually grew 3 sizes.  But it's the heart of God that goes out to us (Luke 7: 11-17), and that changes everything. Sunday, Dec 4, 8:30 a.m. (at WilsonHub) and 10:00 a.m. at the church.
